The history of timex watches:
Timex watches began as the Waterbury
Watch Co. in 1880. There
are 150 years of technology wrapped up in timex watches.
Waterbury Watches was renamed Timex in the mid 1940’s
and the first timex watches debuted in the 1950’s.
This is when timex premiered their time-honored
commercials: “Takes a licking and keeps on ticking”.
One out of every three watches bought was a timex watch.
Over the next four decades Timex
watches would innovate the watch world.
In 1959 timex watches introduced the first women’s brand watch,
